The first echelon was deception, disinformation and propaganda. The second echelon was the destruction of capitalism through by their own money through drugs". Most people would find it hard to believe that the Soviet Union was one of the main instigators of the world wide drugs problem. With the knowledge he gained from Jan Sejna a high level Czeck intelligence officer, who defected to the West in February 1968, the author proves his case. Sejna was involved in the planning and execution of the Soviet drugs policy. Why should we treat this as any thing other than an interesting bit of history? The world-wide drugs plague was planned and organised by the KGB using initially the Czech intelligence service as a cut out. Since the Soviet Union apparently collapsed in 1991 you might think that there is no problem. Unfortunately that was an example of Soviet disinformation and deception, which the West was only too happy to swallow. The Soviet Union did not collapse, it merely changed its form in order better to pursue its long term strategy. That strategy to destroy the free societies of the West was decided by Lenin and has not changed. Perestroika is just a means of deceiving the West about the real intentions of the Communist Party. The West did not win the Cold War; it is still going on and we are in serious danger of losing it. Is there any need for the individual Libertarian to be concerned about the drugs problem, other than to argue for complete legalisation? The answer is yes because according to Mr Douglas the Soviets intend to murder every capitalist on earth, in order to destroy capitalism. They regard us has having no right to live. Jan Sejna made the arrangements for the Western bankers to visit Czeckoslovakia in order to plan with the KGB how they would launder the profits of the Red Cocaine operation. Another of his guests was Raoul Castro, (brother of Fidel) who was in search of foreign aid from the Czeck government. Eventually Cuba was co-opted in to the operation. Cuba is now the major base in the Western Hemisphere for running drugs into the USA, and guns and money out to Latin America where they are used to further the Soviet destabilisation strategy and to protect the drugs industry. Blacks and Hispanics were the original targets of the Soviet Drugs plan because they were seen to be a disaffected minority whose addiction would cause major social problems for the USA. How right they were! Later as they refined their tactics and drugs the Soviet planners decided to attack America's technical elite. There were two reasons for this. First they were seen to be working under pressure and likely to want to indulge in drugs as a relief from their stressful jobs. The other reason was that they could then be blackmailed into giving western technology to the Soviets. Now every year there is a KGB planning meeting to review what technology has been acquired and to plan what they should steal in the following year. The extent of their dedication to their task is quite remarkable. During the Korean war the Soviets built a hospital in North Korea for testing the effects of drugs on American POWs. Some of them died from what the Soviet doctors described as "mini heart attacks". That was just basic research done before the strategy was implemented in the early 1960s. In the Vietnam war the Soviets supplied heroin that was 94 to 97 per cent pure at $1 for the first shot and $2 for the subsequent ones. At that time the price of heroin on the streets of New York was $250. Clearly their motive was not profit, rather it was to get American soldiers hooked. Studies of various social trends in western countries have been done by the Soviets, in order to find better ways to push their products. Organised crime has been infiltrated by the various communist intelligence agencies, so that they can gather information and control rival drugs peddlers. Training schools for professional traffickers were set up and have to date produced about 20,000 graduates. The Soviets got the idea for drugging the West from the Chinese Communists who were running a similar campaign to the present Russian one. In the 1950s and 1960s US intelligence had found out quite a lot about what the Chinese were doing but several US administrations (including that of JFK) did not want to know about either the Chinese or Soviet drugs operations. When the intelligence agencies produced proof of what was happening it was flatly denied by the politicians, in order to allow them to suck up to both regimes. That is one aspect of this plague of drugs that Douglass is quite rightly concerned about. By subsidising the Communist bloc our politicians are actively helping them to bring about the destruction of the West. Mr Douglas dispels the myth of the war against terrorism with the story about a loan of $600 million managed by an American bank, which was given to Aussenhandels Bank in East Germany. $60 million of it was tracked by the NSA from that bank via Libya to the M19 Terrorists, the Red Brigade terrorists, and to the IRA. So much for the war against terrorism! Although having exposed with a wealth of detail what he describes as an act of war against the West by the KGB it is no surprise that Mr Douglas does not see a Libertarian solution to this problem. He states that exposure is what the Soviets fear the most. At one point he says that the US Government should at least threaten the use of force against those countries involved in this operation if they do not desist. In the last chapter Douglas applauds the Swiss for voting against the legalisation of drugs. He also states quite correctly that the war on drugs has been a total waste of money because it is based on the failure by the western governments to realise that they are the targets of this KGB strategic subversion operation. This book gives an insight into the political, cultural, social, economic and moral assault on the West by the Soviet Union and its satellites. Unwittingly the author has demonstrated that Ayn Rand is right; that collectivists by their rejection of reason can only create death, disaster and destruction. Their philosophy is deliberately aimed at destroying the mind of every rational person on the planet. Assuming that they achieve this goal who will provide them with the western technology that they so love to steal and are so incapable of producing ? This book is a stark warning to all libertarians, to defeat this threat to civilisation we must win the intellectual battle before it is too late.
