A [very minor] correction on Killeen: you hypothesize that if any patrons had "exercised their right under Texas law" and been armed, Hennard would have been stopped. In fact, carrying a gun was illegal in Texas at the time; Dr. Suzanne Gratia, who had left her .38 in her car as required by law, was with her parents in Luby's when they were shot, and has been a crusader for carry reform ever since.
